Aloysius Henry “Al” McCarthy, Jr.

Savannah- Mr. Aloysius Henry McCarthy, Jr. 67, died Tuesday, January 23, 2007 at Candler Hospital.
He was a native of Savannah and attended Benedictine Military School. After serving three years in the United States Marine Corps, he returned to Savannah where he was employed for the next seventeen years with the United States Postal Service. Al was very athletic and enjoyed all sports, especially softball, half rubber, golf, and fishing. He was a very fun loving person and will be deeply missed by those who knew him.
Survivors include his wife, Brenda Wade McCarthy of Savannah; four children, Becky McCarthy Knight and her husband, Greg of Brooklet, Peggy McCarthy Wade and her husband Neil of Farmington, ME, Aloysius Henry “Hank” McCarthy, III and his wife, Judith of Brooklet and Chris McCarthy of Savannah; two step-children, Monique Ryals of Ovid, MI and Eric Ryals of Dacula, GA; two sisters, Pat Parham and Judy Degenhardt, both of Savannah and seventeen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, January 25, 2006 at the Islands Chapel of Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors with a Christian Wake Service beginning at 5:00 p.m.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 11:00 a.m., Friday, January 26, 2006 at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church with The Reverend Patrick O’Brien, Celebrant.
Burial will follow at the Greenwich Section of Bonaventure Cemetery.
